Case against Mallikarjun Kharge, his family over ‘illegal’ land allocation

BJP leader NR Ramesh lodged a complaint with the Karnataka Lokayukta against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and many of his family members, accusing them of involvement in a wide-ranging corruption scheme. The allegations include fraud, document forgery, conspiracy to illegally acquire government land, and facilitating the unlawful appropriation of public property.
The complaint also accused Kharge and others of illegally sanctioning government assets, raising concerns over land allocations granted under questionable circumstances. One of the key claims involves the allocation of five acres of land to the Siddharth Vihar Trust, linked to Kharge’s family.
Named in the complaint are Mallikarjun Kharge, Karnataka Minister Priyank M Kharge, Rahul M Kharge, Radhabai M Kharge, Radhakrishna, Karnataka Minister MB Patil, and IAS officer Dr S Selvakumar.
The BJP leader has submitted 394 pages of documents as evidence to support his claims.
According to the complaint, two separate government agencies allocated properties to the Siddharth Vihar Trust.
In 2014, an 8,002 sq. meter (86,133 sq. ft.) CA plot, site number 05 in Bengaluru’s BTM 4th Stage, was allegedly allocated through the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
Additionally, on May 30, 2024, five acres of land in the Hardware Sector of the Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park in Bagalur was allotted to Rahul M Kharge by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).
Ramesh alleged that these land allocations were improperly approved and has called for a thorough investigation into the actions of those named in the complaint.
